eat like a farmer
What’s in a Share?
Each week you can expect about 8-12 items of the vegetables, fruits and herbs available from both our farm and from our partners, Valley Spirit Farm. It also includes our yummy, colorful eggs!
- Summer—kale, carrots, beets, celery, onions, okra, green beans, garlic, cabbage, turnips, cucumber, tomato, eggplant, peppers, potatoes, lettuce, watermelon, cantaloupe, blueberries, parsley, cilantro, dill, basil
- Fall—Sweet potatoes, garlic, carrots, celery, onions, winter squash, kale, broccoli, cabbage, beets, fennel, radishes
- One dozen Pastured EGGS [ Read about our eggs here]
“I rave about your CSA- I’ve never had better vegetables. I realize I may be a little biased because I love you guys but I think that is one of the big parts of CSA’s right? Knowing the hands that grew and harvested the foods I’m eating makes the food taste so much better and makes me appreciate what I’m putting into my body. Definitely increases my awareness of the disadvantages of buying conventional produce in grocery stores.“
Expect to eat very well! We are chef-y people and get really excited about sharing the flavors of high quality produce. Please note, we will always provide a diverse share, but we cannot guarantee certain quantities of specific items at any point in the season. A share will provide enough vegetables for a household to have the opportunity to whip up some old favorites and also explore new flavors.
In addition to the veggies and eggs, we will provide a newsletter that includes information about the items in that week’s share and ideas on how to use the produce so you don’t have to worry about wasting it. Additionally, your share will come in a homemade up-cycled bag and we rely on you return the bags each week so we can refill them for you!
**Would you rather be able to pick and choose exactly what you want from an unlimited list of veggies each week? Check out our Full Diet CSA if so! We offer a vegetarian discount if you’re not interested in getting meat.
Season Length: June – October || 22 weeks with 2 weeks off*
* We all take a one week “clean-out-the-fridge” break half way through and you get one flexible week off you can take anytime you need it. If you never take a vacation, you get one week free!
Number of shares available: 20 shares available. We are intentionally keeping this CSA small. By limiting the shares available, we hope we can better know our members and harvest the morning of the delivery or pick-up to give you the freshest vegetables possible.
How you get your share: We are offering to deliver your share right to your door each week, or you can claim a discount and pick up yours at the farm at your convenience. We deliver to Jefferson, Oldham and Henry counties.
Pricing: All pricing includes your veggies, one dozen eggs and weekly home delivery: $50 per week. Season Price: 20 weeks x $50 = $1000. Remember the season is 22 weeks long, so you get two weeks off throughout!
On-Farm Pickup Discount: If you would like to swing by the farm to pick up your share (and maybe your neighbor’s too!), we are happy to offer a 10% discount off your full share price.
Payment Options: We ask that you join us for the full season, with two payment options:
- Make Two Payments – half upfront and the other half mid-season
- Prepay for the full season for a $50 discount (cash or check preferred)
“I have bought less than $20 worth of vegetables from a supermarket in 6 months!“
How does delivery work?
We will deliver all of your items to either your house or office. If no one is available to receive it, a large cooler with ice packs will need to be left on the porch for us. Ideally it can be left in a shady, covered spot. If you have a fridge that is accessible in the garage, that is ideal!
What if I am going on vacation and need to skip a week?
Your membership includes a one-week “clean out the fridge” break in early August and one flexible week off that you can use anytime. We will try our best to work with your schedule needs. Just let us know when you will be gone and you can either skip that week, share it with some friends, or coordinate a better delivery time so you have food for when you return!
